Garden to visit recommendation please....
« on: April 21, 2016, 16:28:40 »
OH has offered to take me out for the day to a  garden/ stately home or similar on my birthday next week; but I'm struggling to think of somewhere I really want to see or we haven't been yet! Has anyone got an any inspiration? We will travel about two hours from Derby, I love kitchen gardens but am open to any recommendations......;) If all else fails we might end up at Barnsdale, haven't been there for a while.. :sunny:
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

That looks exactly what I was looking for......just worked out it will take just over an hour from Derby, so well within the range, brilliant thanks! :blob7:

Have a lovely day out, I too am always on the look out for a good kitchen garden it would be good to have a list here from our readers!  Have you been to Clovelly walled  garden in Devon or Wrington walled garden in Bristol? Happy places .

Visited Wentworth gardens and the garden centre, we were lucky and dodged the hail! The gardens were very tidy and planted with many shade loving plants , topiary and had water features and weathered statues dotted about. We didn't get a good look at the plants for sale as the heavens opened but did get some refreshments in the cafe! :sunny:

A bit late now, but Felley Priory isn't too far from you.  I beautiful garden, smashing teashop and plants for sale that they have actually grown themselves.  We went early this year and will definitely be going again.
