Brandy and figs
« on: August 10, 2015, 21:27:55 »
Just picked 6 figs from my tree at the allotment, before the birds eat them.  Tried this recipe, found brandy in cupboard, a present, which we don't drink.  Might come in handy if I make a Xmas cake this year.  This was so easy to do, and think we have overdosed on it.
6 figs (ripe)
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons brandy
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
pinch of salt (gently heated this in saucepan).
cut cross in figs.
Poor liquid over, roast 10 mins at Gas mark 2, then for 5 mins, oven off.
Then eat with ice cream (mine was shop bought, not home made).
Yum, yum.
Must admit was a bit heavy handed with the brandy.  :blob7: :blob7: :blob7:
