i remembered from away back that the little divils are right brittle to handle so i've lashed out on some coir pots so i dont have to heave them out of their pots-

i'm starting to wonder whether me raised bed is going to be big enough...its a kingsize(bed-geddit?)but maybe i ought to add an ensuite......

Note a sense of hysteria on the old forum tonight due undoubtedly to the warm spring having sprung and everything sprouting right left and centre.  I think it's not just March hares that are mad .......  ;D

I have a little ps broccoli seedling that has been about 1/2" long for about a week and has refused to grow any further despite my best efforts.  The seed leaves are there but unopened.  I have tonight isolated it into some new, warm compost, given it a little talking to and put it under the lights of my cooker hood.  If it fails to unfurl or grow a bit by tomorrow it's curtains  ;D
I came, I saw, I composted

hmmmmm..curtains ay?

and maybe a smart little duvet and a vase of flowers.. ;D

hares are  a favourite of mine!
i paint lots of hares i do and i am lucky enough to see them cavort on the fields -i luv 'em i do!
wardy-on a slightly more serious note-when you say you put them under the cooker light-is that for warmth or actual light? ???
i always thought using a light meant a special sort of bulb-on dull days i paint under a daylight bulb..well2 actually-are they the sort plantsmen use for extending daylight then?

Sorry to be a downer but I took the top off some seed trays containing cabbage seedlings and the cat slept on them.  Methinks the cat may become fertilizer  ;)

It seems that pets are inexplicably drawn to seed trays.  I think it's jealousy!  We lavish so much attention on our seedlings and neglect our doggies and moggies so they flatten em out of spite  ;D

Yes I realise I should put my tender charges under a special kind of grow bulb but don't have one so the light of my cooker hood will have to suffice.  I checked it a few minutes ago and I think it's unfurled a bit  :)

I came, I saw, I composted

Could it be seed tray/litter tray  ;)

To a cat is there a difference?  Except the obvious.. its softer

Re: leaves not unfurling. Is the seed case still attached to them? Some of my peppers and tomatoes have had this problem. If you're careful and have a steady hand, you can just pinch them off.
gone to pot :D

I've had it under close scrutiny this morning (the seedling that is)! It does not have the seed case still attached but it is still sulking.  I fed it with dilute feed, I talked nicely to it and put in my kitchen window.  All this attention for one seedling.  I think I must be quite loopy  :)

That's maybe your problem, Wardy...uncertainty...Now, are you loopy or not, come-on make your mind up.
Cats on seedtrays and my dog on top of newly planted outdoor herb garden. I think I was upset but not too sure.

Wardy,

I thought of you all day today and of that poor little broccoli seed heading for the chop.  I am so glad it has finally shown signs of life !
Well done !

cat sleeping on seed tray eh ?  I thought some seeds needed 'bottom heat'.  Obviously not the heat of / from a cat's bottom though .
