Ashya is the little boy with a brain tumour, whose parents were arrested in Spain.  This isn't a thread to discuss the politics of Ashya's plight, but just to point out that their friends have set up a JustGiving page for anyone who'd like to contribute.  Anything over and above the target will go to other children with cancer.

Just pointing out that there's no evidence that proton beam therapy works any better than standard radiotherapy, and it's much more expensive.

Apparently it is better because it destroys far less brain tissue because it is more targetted  and fewer stray beams kill off good brain tissue.  This is important for rehabilitation.  Hope the poor little mite will make it anyway.  The place in the Czech Republic where they plan to go now seems to insist on 2 courses of chemo before they consider the proton beam therapy. 

Such an awful disease!

At least he is in the company of his parents and siblings again.
