Sweet williams in the rain
« on: July 05, 2014, 21:42:50 »
I sowed some sweet William seed and nothing happened so I sowed some more.  Then it rained and they popped up.

As of yesterday there was not a single sign of any of the second batch of sowings.  Very surprised that this morning after rain in the night the second batch have popped up.  Not clear how the seedlings know to come up in rain and not when watered with a can.

This is my first year having Sweet Williams bloom and they kept at it for over a month in very bright colors. What a brilliant plant. They seem very hardy, even agreeable to sprouting in hot July. I've pulled out some monarda to make room for more next year.
