Summer gardening shoes?
« on: July 20, 2014, 13:24:35 »
What do you wear on your feet for gardening in the summer? Wellies and trainers are too hot, and sandals lead to filthy feet (and ruined sandals). Is there such a thing a summer gardening shoes?

I wear 'Crocs' as they are easy to kick off and on when I come into the house!

Usually at this time of the year I wear them on the allotments when it is dry.

I keep a pair of 'Rigger' boots in my car in case I need something more robust on my feet!

Wellies every time as I get filthy otherwise and stung.   I have a summer pair which are quite thin, another pair for wearing with one pair of socks in spring and autumn and another, heavier pair for wearing with two pairs of socks in winter.

That's what I call organised! As it's just tipped down for half an hour it's back to the wellies anyway!

I'm seriously considering a pair of Crocs. The advantage would be that they're easy to wash and dry...

Welly shoes.
Made by Dunlop.
A bit like Crocs as they just slip on, feel light on the feet and are washable.

I wear steel tipped safety shoes all year.  Safety first.  I value my toes.   Wellies offer no protection and are not very good for digging the steel plate spreads the weigh over the foot.  I knew someone who lost their toes gardening one slip with a spade.....

All terrain crocs, they have deep treads for grip and are so lightweight and you can kneel comfortably in them. You do need to wear some sort of socks though or your feet get so dusty!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Old trainers, and socks, and trousers, this hot weather I do not want to be bitten by red ants, or whatever.  Also my lovely/sun hat this hot weather.
