better tomato plants than mine
« on: August 01, 2014, 11:30:24 »
ok, my tomato plants although planted a bit late are doing OK. however last week I noticed behind my shed I have some huge plants. for a while I was puzzled. we have a springer spaniel and when ever I make cheese and tom sandwiches he always gets a slice or two. obviously he has gone behind the shed to do his business hence the surprize plants. I remember years ago I worked on a sewage treatment plant and the beds got covered in tomato plants like little oak trees. obviously they got a good start in life. I am hoping for some good fruit from them and if so will take pics. mo

It's amazing where seeds get carried or deposited!

Yesterday I noticed a wee little tomato plant growing in the track by the side of the house, I guess from bird poo as our doggie doesn't eat tomatoes!

Our chickens get some tomato treats...and this summer on the bed where I emptied lot of their bedding last winter, there has sprouted tomato forest!!  :icon_cheers:
I could weed them out...but...I'm feeling lazy about it..eventually we get frost that will sort those out..and as for now, courgettes won't mind some competition...they have germinated too late for fruiting but at least if there is few flowers, it might be interest for some insect...and just curious to see 'what will happen'...
