I have a patch of Phacelia which has overwintered. Most of it is about 18 " high but it hasn't flowered yet. If I cut it down now, how long will it take to rot down, and what's the best veg to plant after it?

Good thing is that you can plant what ever you want afterwards
If you chop it bit smaller before turning the soil over and the greenery in..it should be ready in 2-3 weeks.
I have planted sweetcorn and many other crops within few days without any ill effects...just waited the soil to settle a little.
