Get in there!

After 3 years without an allotment - due to a house move - it looks like I am just about to get a new plot at my Parish Council's new shiny allotment site.

Super excited.

Ha Ha!!!

That was a long wait for a new plot.  Really pleased for you.  Wish you a really good first season.  What is the soil like?

It's farm pasture that's just been turned over to allotments, haven't checked the soil yet - we don't get the keys till March, when the site opens - but from my knowledge of the area it's probably a sandy loam of very slightly acid pH.

The site is tucked under the North Downs and the soil changes several times as you head up the slope. I don't think it is chalky this low down the slope.

Well done, get the seed trays going. Physically, just take your time, don't try to do it all in one dig.

Have fun.
