I was amazed to discover that there's nothing in our lease or rules that require our tenants to live in the UK even. If you can be bothered to travel from Lancashire to tend a plot in Nottingham, it seems we can let you have one  ;)

Unfortunately I live in Herts.  Somehow, travelling to Notts seems a little too far.  ::) ;)

If I lived half a mile away from here, I would be given an allotment straight away.  But since that is not the case, the council are NOT prepared to help me.  However, they are prepared to take my council tax ...... No comment I think.

So I will have to do with my tiny garden... Never mind.

Oh Marianne that's not fair! If you're outside the area, then whose area ARE you in? Do they take your council taxes? If they do, then they should provide you with one. I'd appeal.

I actually took time to read the relevant 1998 act recently: It makes for interesting reading, that's for sure... I suspect we all would benefit from knowing exactly what councils can and cannot do, so they don't try and pull wool over our eyes.

I read that and it seems if your allotment is really ancient and predates local authority (ie it has trustees such as the church) then it is harder for them to change use? O r have I ,as usual, got the wrong end of the stick?
