Failed Allotment Soup
« on: August 29, 2013, 19:59:44 »
1 rather puny onion which has blown.
Several sticks of celery remove the bits the slugs have gnawed include the leafy top.
A few carrots having cut off the bits the deer have chewed off.
1 overlarge courgette
3 apples remove the bits with wasp or maggots.
! dessert spoon of ginger powder
1 packet of lidl tomato passata because I had one in the cupboard.
1 large cup full water.

Wash vegetable ingredients well.

Put in pressure cooker and Zap for about 10 minutes.

Sprinkle with parsley.  Amazing so far nothing has chewed it.

Makes a very delicious soup.  Probably better with your own tomatoes but they got the blight. :BangHead:

Sounds like a magnificent way to use up those things.

Regarding the blighted toms - I would really recommend to the highest degree the "tomatillos de jalapo" from here - I'm just about to post about them as I think they're a miraculous thing that doesn't get blight.

Must say those tomatoes sound interesting.  It has rained so little I was hoping to escape the blight.  I do actually have quite a few plants in the garden which are still looking very bonny.

Forgot to say I fried the onion first and some of the veg.
