Shortbread
« on: March 13, 2005, 19:08:34 »
Came home from the plot this afternoon to find number one daughter a bit upset.  She'd thought to give us a wonderful surprise and bake some shortbread.

Problem - recipe had plain flour (normal) and rice flour (nice if you have it).  But she'd misread my packet of "rye flour".

Rye flour shortbread?

Gorgeous!  :) :) :) :) :)  A bit of crisp, and a bit of chewy - and a lovely flavour.

Silly thing is - the first lot looked odd to her eye, and tasted unusual.  So she made a second batch - even better than the first.  Well worth a go!

All best - Gavin

All the best recipes are born of accidents :)
