This site has had  some beautiful pictures, I think I will just retire now and spend the next few years learning how to take better photos.
Have spent all Summer trying to get close enougbh to the Woodpecker to get a decent shot, but it is very shy. And I have only got a point and click camera no telephoto lenses or such like so I will have to get close. Ah well.
As a family that shouts mint sauce at every lamb we see I reckon your Shawn, Diane, did well to get to even that size.
Do you say Horseradish sauce to the cows though?

Perhaps the dutch Painted Ladies are a bit butch, Tim, or the Peac*cks are a bit effeminate.

P.S. You should have seen what the Board Censor did to my first attempt.  Peathingies indeed!

Oops thanks for the corrections (I've corrected it now) what's a painted lady then - another name for a red admiral or is it a completely different flutterby ?

OOOoo, and there I was,  all excited!  ;D

Its called a butterfly ( :P ), and I took it in August on the nicotiana growing on my allotment. If you look really carefully you can see the bad infestation of greenfly I didn't know I had until I took this picture.   :-/ (I really should wear my glasses more!)

They're in the red-light district in Amsterdam too, must be the urban variety.

Clivia.......your little beauty is a 'speckled wood'  :)
