Wish List And Swaps.
« on: June 29, 2012, 16:32:17 »
Thought I would get my swap list in nice and early as my wish plants and my swap plants probably won't be ready to send till later in the year or even early next year.

So here goes.

Plants wanted:

Fig plant - only need be a small rooted cutting, layer, or offset to save on postage. Or one a bit larger. (ficus carica)

Impatiens Niamniamensis - Parrot plant - Congo Cockatoo. This is a long shot I know. I used to grow this a few years back but lost them all one winter. (along with whitefly!)

Pulmonaria (lungwort) - for the bees early in the year.

Monarda (bee balm).

rare/unusual veg seeds. Climbing bean seeds.

multiplyer onion or bunching/welsh onion (allium fistulosum)

Plants Offered in the autumn:

Grape vines - rooted cuttings. Varieties - Regent, Phoenix, Chardonnay, Madeleine Angevine.

Soft fruit - rooted cuttings.

Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Green'
Blackcurrant 'Ben Nevis'
Redcurrant 'Jonkheer Van Tets'

Strawberry Plants - Cambridge Favourite

Plants Offered Jan/Feb 2013.

Oca (tubers).
Yacon (This year only a few caudices - the things new plants grow from- as I want to build up the stock).

Hoping someone will offer some of my wants and want some of my offered. :)

Any articular climbing beans? I've only got a couple of varieties right now, but I'm growing out a lot more, which I should have for swaps over the winter, slugs and floods permitting.

I usually grow borlotti but a new variety would make a nice change.

Ah! So that's what you do with them! I usually just leave them to self-scatter!

walking onions grow flower head..but instead of flowers they develop tiny 'mini' onions..as they grow on and gets heavier, the 'flower' stalk bends over and where the head touches the ground those 'mini' onions root and start growing making more 'mother' onion that will produce babies following year.
If not kept under control..walking onion spread=walk all over the place.
They are perennial onions.

I had never heard of them fancy me missing out on food  ;D ;D

Thank you for answering my question goodlife although it did rather shatter my image of lots of onions walking over the allotments  ;D

looks like i may be able to help you out with your request for Impatiens Niamniamensis - Parrot plant.

i have a few plants but they have been neglected some as i've recently moved house. they are fine but are a little  potbound and therefore stunted. should be ideal for taking your own cuttings from soon or repotting for cuttings next year. i find to starve them of water until they start to droop keeps them alive!

i'm curious about the oca and would love to try it.

please forward your address and i'll post a plant out to you asap for a swap of some oca in jan/feb.

great.
