You sure are !!! :(

Cant see a thing, all I get is the annoying white box with the red cross. Nothing!!

Strange how some people can get these things and others cant. Thoght at first it was my ISP (AOL), so i tried going into Internet Explorer instead. Still nothing.

Shame.

Well I'm sorry folks! can't understand why some of you are getting the pictures and others are not????

I have sent the pictures from two different sources and in both, they preview OK on my PC.

Similarly I can see them here on the forum from both sources???

Over to the experts among you for advice.

Gardener, if you go to page 3 of the gallery, there is a posting titled Photographs that I think it was Tim, did, it is  blow by blow instructions on how to get photos on here. You have to remember to put your photos into the Auction area in hppoto, then copy the link. Oh and HAVE to remember to put that into [ img] (no gap tho between the [ & i, have to do it that way here or I get the red cross too!))
at the front, then finish it with [/img] when you are posting it here. Hope this helps! DP

Progress report;

I have followed all the instructions given by all those who gave me them.

As I said I can pick the pictures up from both sources as I said, i.e. Yahoo & HPphoto.

Now Tim tells us one day he has them and the next he hasn't.......the mind boggles ???

Now then I am going to hazard a guess;...........I have recently upgraded to Windows XP and I have had numerous problems to resolve on my PC....what do you others have?

Windows 2000 ?
Windows 98 ?
Windows 95 ?
Macs etc.

Could the operating systems be the problem?

Lets have a poll those than CAN receive indicate system and those that CAN't do likewise and lets see if there is any corralation.

Hi I have windows ME with XP office I have no problem, hubby has a brand new Windows XP built for him major problems it crashes on him.
I had problems getting photos here, using epson albums simple to look at did not realise had to open photo then right click go to properties and copy the hpp link to put between the here,  but before that had to click the share albums and key in this site address.
Try again if you see it in preview it should be on site then hit save

Well, I've got Windows XP Professional and still can't see your piccies!  Not sure I like this package too much.  Lots of things I can't access that I used to be able to!

Happened to me early on. Only other thing is if you have changed the Album in which your photos are stored on Hpphoto. I accidently deleted one and of course all the addresses were then wrong even when I re-created the Album. It is very frustrating is it not, And the pics were so good too.

This is HIGHLY  peculiar. I operate  Win XP Home, and most of the time have no problems viewing pictures on this site, and since getting the hang of posting photos here have had no problems with my own pics.

Then just occasionaly like with 'The Gardener's' pics I get the red X instead of the pictures.

A little tip with adding the URL of the photos.  Copy URL from HP or wherever as normal, but before 'pasting' here, click the 'add image' button in the editing tools. The tags will appear automaticaly. Then put the cursor betwen the tags with the mouse, and THEN paste the URL. This way no mistake can be made with the html tags.

I've never used the hp thing, but ...

I looks as though photos which are shown have this in them

/servlet/LinkPhoto?

while ones that don't work, well don't !

This may be relevant - I don't know.

If you use the "create auction link" on hpphoto, it adds an aspect to the link which bypasses the login on the site which is the servlet...

Trouble is, each different free photo posting site will be different due to where the photo is stored, how the photo is accessed etc etc.

The positive thing is this is all a d**n sight easier than trying to upload stuff to your own site using an FTP uploader....

I reckon = Go with hpphoto and use the Create auction link, is easiest imho....
