I think I got someone's hedge clippings
« on: April 10, 2012, 15:12:06 »
Just opened my Wickes multi compost.  Very disappointed it is full of large bits.  Totally unsuitable for small seeds and does not wet easily.   I am sure it is simply recycled waste.  I can buy that for £1 a bag.  And Wiltshires offering is much much better.  Very unhappy with it.

I opened mine yesterday after finnishing a bag from last year.  So horrified at the contents.  So different.
I do think we should complain but I think they would offer a refund if we took it back.   As a LOF (lone/old/female) this would be difficult.  The staff loaded it for me and a fellow plotter lifted it out.

Wickes peat free that I trialled last year looked exactly same as the 'new recipe' 50% peat version this year.. ::)
Apprantely they've had lot of returned bags in shops..so last time I went to Wickes they had open bag next to the pallet for customers to see before they buy.
I would not use it in containers..and certainly not for hanging baskets..time will tell how it will perfom. But I did use it straight into ground..it is ideal stuff when you have to garden in almost pure sand 'soil'. But otherwise I'm not impressed.. :(...no yet.. ::)
