T&M £100 for a tenner. Allegedly!
« on: March 09, 2012, 16:42:01 »
Those of you that get the T&M emails will already have seen this.  A lucky dip of gardening accessories, allegedly worth £100 for a mere £9.99.

Well, £14.94 actually, including postage.

Still, I've taken the bet.  We'll see what we get.  :o

If anyone wants to try it, here's the link:

The order code, if you don't automatically get your discount is WSE678

Their alterego Van Meuwen did something similar last year and the A4Aers who bought were satisfied with what was sent IIRC.

But yes, £100 wouldn't be that much at T&M's RRPs.

Did you place an order for anything else?

I've just received my seed order from them - not sure I need anything else.  ???

I didn't!  ;D

I feels like a bit of a cheek just to buy the special offer, I know, but hey, that's business.

Well, in that case, I'm tempted. But.... there's probably a tray of plant plugs waiting for me to order them  :-\ although they will need warm / frost-free greenhouse space which is lacking this year so.....

Oh b***** fiddle.... why is that I am always so undecided.  >:(

Yep ordered them (well was ordering something else anyway) and i have a nice virgin plot which now needs plants i cant afford lots at the moment so this seamed like a good deal even if there not perfect and might not survive more than a year at least i will have something in the ground this summer :)

Anyone got theirs yet?

Their "£100 worth of plants for £10" offer is, apparently, a lucky dip of 20 plants and 10 packets of seeds for £15 incl postage which sounds good to me.  There are a few people ranting on Twitbook that "no way could this collection be valued at £100" but now I wish I'd bought.

Description "Fill your beds and borders with this bargain perennial bumper collection. You will receive at least 20 different popular perennial varieties, with a worth value of £100! Perennial plants will bloom year after year and they can also be cut and brought into the house for beautiful flower arrangements.
Plants will be supplied as jumbo plugs."

^^ it's from Twitbook - two people have posted on there.  One says she got 20 plants and 10 packets of seeds but she has no use for the seeds and is therefore unhappy  ::) .

Honestly, why don't T&M just says "20 plants for a tenner, lucky dip but some of these plugs will retail at upwards of £5".  Or something.

I did the Van Meuwen offer last year, and it was quite exciting.  Some of the stuff I didn't want, like the cabbage trees, that are used for walking sticks, five packets of seeds of those, but it was cheap and some of the stuff was good, but I will not tempted again as short of cash, but worth a go, and 20 cigs cost £7.20 so £10 is not too much to pay even if the offer is not as wonderful as it sounds, and I know I shouldn't smoke, that is probably why I am short of cash.  Newsagent said they are going up again in the budget so good time to stop and spend the money on plants/seeds. And better than spending money of the lottery which I never win, of topic, but I don't care.

If you fill out the survey T&M sent via email you get rewarded with a £10 voucher.  I used this to buy the so called £100's of gardening items and it only cost me the postage....
