Creeping ivy/ground ivy ... ?

The sort that grows up trees has spread over some potential garden area. Any thoughts on best way to get rid ? We've been ripping up as we go along, but is that more harm than good long term ... ?

Just keep ripping it up, or use Glyphosate.
