Coppiced woods
« on: February 04, 2005, 13:06:35 »
The National Trust have been up on Danbury common lots over the last couple of months coppicing the woods.  They have also been carrying out some tree maintenance to ensure footpaths and bridleways are safe for users.  It has really opened some of the more dense areas up, which I quite like as I know they will be filled with green and colours come spring - lots of foxgloves grow on the common and they look amazing.  But I also don't like it as I liked the denseness of the woods, but I do appreciate and fully understand why the woods are managed.  Only thing is, they are opening up areas where the deer loiter to try and move them on, so long as they don't move them onto my allotment!!!  :o
