It is certainly edible, but for me has a slightly soapy taste.  I think that it lost out when spinach arrived on the scene.

I think it is sought after by the wild foragers.  Not too bad for a nibble in the early spring when there is not much else.

But basically a terrible nuisance especially as it seems to have a 150% germination rate and the seeds are not killed either by passage through an animal or processing in a compost heap.

I used to know a bloke who went picking wild and hedgerow plants for his family for salads and stuff but I reckon it can be a bit dodgy unless you know exactly what you're doingand what might have been sprayed in said hedgerow.

As for users, II looked at the list and it seems a lot I recognise haven't been active on here for a couple of years or more so the main core of regular posters and lurkers is probably quite small.   Either way, it's a good, friendly site with some knowledgeable people willing to share their wisdom and experience no matter how basic or esoteric the question.   The daftest questions of all are the ones people don't ask and then carry on and get it wrong out of ignorance.

Thanks to all involved in running the site and the regulars who make it a pleasure to visit.

Hey you donèt need to know anything to be here sweetie, in the shed we talk about everything so stop lurking  and come and join us..you will be surprised what you know and can share..please donèt be put off. Seiously I would hate to think someone didnèt post for this reason. I go on a forum that is filled with experts and I feel uncomfortable, I always think that A4A is much more friendly and informative as we all donèt mind asking questions here,no one makes anyone uncomfortable .

So get yourself out...

Guess I better post something as I have just been lurking again of late.  ;D

Newbies are always warmly welcomed on here and as others have pointed out you do not need to be an expert to join in at all.

Now that is scarey  :o being in the chat room. I've only been a few times and not for a long while. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, it was all new to me and I just couldn't keep up! Perhaps a newbie chat slot once in a while may encourage others?

The chat thing is good, especially in the winter, when it gets dark early.  We all talk rubbish and pass round drinks and snacks (virtual ones).  Funny that when I go on, everyone else goes to bed.  ;D ;D ;D
