Pak Choi
« on: July 17, 2011, 20:41:20 »

I've grown this for the first time this year. With all the rain, its growing very quickly.

Is it a cut & come again veg or will it bolt if i don't use it soon?

When is it harvested & is its use solely for steaming or stir fry?

Advice please :-\

cut it young and use it in salads its very good griddled, and yes it will bolt very very easily and very fast but the leaves can still be used but then it loses all its crunchyness.
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.

we use it in the early spring as a cut again salad, and then again in late summer autumn for whole pak choi (unless it starts to look like going to seed). It does grow spectacularly fast

one of the things we do is steam them cut into quarters lengthways - like to do whole or half ones but there are usually tiny slugs lurking in the middle  ;D
