Identifying a bird
« on: June 20, 2011, 20:18:10 »
Does anyone recognise this bird? It was hopping in amongst some bushes in our front garden.

It a young robin or dunnock - as far as I know it's impossible to tell them apart until the robin's red breast grows through.

It looks like a young robin -

Young dunnocks are streakier in colouring.

For me the baby robin is the one that sits on the end of the washing line just like its parents.   Its not just the colouring but where and how it sits.  Another vote here for the robin.

Definitely a robin. I believe they are territorial and there is now a robin with a slight red breast which I would like to believe is the same bird. Still hopping around the same bushes.
