Do Charlottes keep?
« on: February 15, 2005, 09:49:42 »
Question's in the title...

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a £1 bag from B&Q. I have enough room (they'll be in upturned growbags) but we don't eat that many potatoes at once!
gone to pot :D

Hi Aquilega

We store Charlotte(2nd early) in a cool shed and they keep until the end of the year - its lovely to have that "new potato" taste in the winter months.

Go for it - I wish I hadn't heard about the £1 a bag!!!  I bought mine early AT A PREMIUM but I'll remember next year.

Thanks Pat. And welcome to A4All!

That's what I wanted to hear! They'll probably have sold out by the time I get there tomorrow, though!

As Pat says they should keep as they are second earlies. We did not store ours as they were so nice we ate them.

I agree that they will keep reasonably well until Christmas.

They are also excellent as a second crop variety so that you can have "real" new potatoes at Christmas and into the New year
