hose to tap connector
« on: April 25, 2011, 16:41:15 »
My friend lives in a small townhouse with a mixer tap in the kitchen.   She wishes to connect a hosepipe to it but the end is not the typical tap end.  B and Q could not help.    Does anyone have any ideas?   Many thanks.

some mixer taps are nearly impossible to fit a hose onto!

some suggestions

a) change taps in kitchen

b) install outside tap
You couldn't make it up!

You could always email e.g. Hozelock with a picture of the tap and get their advice. There are all sorts of solutions for dealing with "different" taps.

I used to have something like this Hozelock Multi Tap Connector for my mixer tap, I am sure I have seen them in B&Q, but my better solution was to fit an outside tap, much better.

Yes, here it is on the B&Q website....

Outside tap not an option.  Other replies sound good.  Thanks.   Will explore.

boy you all are daft the solution is so simple.
you put a manifold between  the  tap connection and the tap. In other words  you put an splitter between  the pipe between tap and tap connection to water source under the sink.
simple easy and easily removed in case have to move.

THink they're illegal in this country unless used for washing machines and dishwashers with back-flow preventers.... might be wrong, we're certainly not allowed to just fit a hose onto a straight split off the mains any more....

If you are fitting a tee joint, you can fit a non-return valve at the same time, no problem.
