Thanks everyone.  :)

It was only possible because of all the help we had.  In fact, we almost had too many people willing to serve on the stalls, something that's never happened before.

Yes, lots of men were there but no Birmingham teams were in the final so maybe that's why?

Grannyjanny - I did go to bed at 10 last night, but I've woken up even earlier this morning!  :o

No problem Shirl.  Felix took it all in his stride and chilled out on top of his house.

2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Nice to meet you too Betty and Shirl..   Sorry not to post sooner.   Problems with my computer which has been getting slower and slower really needed replacing.   Got on-line today with new one.

I enjoyed my visit.  Lovely plants.   Nice coffee.   Lovely chocolate cake.   Helpful carpark attendants.    Would love to come again if I can endure the travelling to get there and back. Yes it would be worth it.

The spring plant  sale is just a small affair to raise some funds. The Autumn Open day is a much grander affair  (Don't make me eat my words Betty). It was nice to meet you too.

I am sure that Betty will give you the ups and downs of it all.PH. All I can say is that despite the chilly wind the folks turned up to show their support.

Plant Sale - we ask people early in the growing season to pot up some plants for us, this year we seemed to have hundreds of tomato plants and were left with quite a lot.  Visitors were asking for courgette, red cabbage and aubergine plants but we had very few of those.  Next year....

Cream Tea - this is organised by a team of four plot holders and their families so there is nothing for me to do.

Bric a Brac - I asked for donations of good quality items and people left them in the pavilion for us.  Shirley and Tony took them home and sorted them and then ran the stall without any help from me (thank you both!)  They also got rid of all the unsold items afterwards, a big help because in the past we have had to do it.

Jenny's Jams - Jenny brought her jams and preserves and generously gave us half of her takings.  The other half went to Cats Protection.

The takings were divided up as follows:-

Plant sales   £477.20
Bric-a-Brac   £135.68
        £612.88
For our Association funds, the only time during the year that we raise funds for ourselves.

Cream Tea   £164.75
Gate collection     £88.27
                   £253.02
For Macmillan Cancer Support

Shirl’s glass paintings       £88
Jenny’s Jams & preserves      £106.25
                      £194.25
This is for the Felix Fund, in case Felix needs veterinary treatment.  The other five cats are feral and if we can catch them, would be treated free of charge (to us) by the vet.

We advertise in the local free paper and by putting posters up locally.  We have massive signs outside on the road.

We are now planning for the Summer Fayre on August 20th.  This will be for Macmillan again and for the County Air Ambulance.  Other groups come and raise money for their own charity - Swan Rescue, local Scouts, Cats Protection (of course  ;))

A lot depends on the weather of course.  We plan for rain and try to provide enough shelter because the longer people stay, the more they spend.  One year we had some local Morris Men to entertain the crowds and they were brilliant.  The sun even shone that year.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.....
