And cos I'm a real tomato saddo, I've just ordered Furry Yellow Hog from Baker Creek. They are not the speediest on delivery, so possibly too late for them to grow into much this year, but I will sow a few just to see what leaf form :P

The first set of true leaves are pepper pointy just like yours ..

Hi aj,
Galina - the tomato, that is - is definitely potato-leaved; I double checked this with realseed when I grew them for the first time as they didn't mention it on their website, so I don't think it's contagious ! :)

Wrt the yellow furry hogs, everyone so far seems to have the same leaf type: does anyone else have anything to report?

These aren't potato leaved - they are pepper leaved....

I'm a bit slow with this but I've just sown some scotia just so I know, wouldn't want to pass anymore of these on it they are not what they should be :-[

Also sown some of Ruuds Yellow Furry Hogs, some of my saved YFH and today Furry Yellow Hogs from Baker Creek arrived so they have been sown too, will report on leaf shape in a wee while. Hopefully just enough time to get a few ripe fruit from one of each to compare.

I know the fruit is meant to be slightly fuzzy, I'm wondering if the leaves should be to? Mine weren't last year. Anyone got fuzzy/furry leafed hogs?

Didn't think the leaves should be, just the fruit. There are no fuzzy or furry leaves here. Will keep an eye on them and report if they turn furry when they are getting more mature plants. At the moment they are seedlings ready to be planted out in the greenhouse, but I am still hesitating to take the plunge. It is comforting to know that I could just hoik them off the bench and take them indoors if we get frosts.

Nope.

Just keeping an eye on them all and will report back when I get fruit showing. It could be a genetic quirk or a simple seed mix-up. Nothing ventured nothing gained!!!

I think you are right no reports of furry leaves, I think it is me geting carried away with woolly/furry varieties, I think they are simply gorgeous ;D

8 Baker Creek Furry Yellow Hogs all regular leaf :o

I'll let you know how the fruits compare in a wee while.......

OK, we have ripe outdoor fruit! They are nice tasting. Other websites have remarked on a citrussy flavour and that is definitely there. Others have remarked that this one is late. Not ours - vigorous and early.

But - furry they are not. I am growing Garden Peach this year too, which looks exactly like an apricot, and that one IS furry. Gently rubbing both against my lips, and a definitely NOT furry tomato variety for comparison, shows that it is not furry. It does have shiny skin - unlike garden peach which is matte.

How are the others out there doing?

aj,

your fruits look furry! By contrast, mine were bright yellow, rather than yellow with apricot hues and they were not furry. They were also larger and had a really strong citrussy 'bite' - very unexpected but quite delicious.
