I D PLEASE
« on: March 14, 2011, 23:33:49 »
This morning a lovely little white bird came into the garden, it had black on its wings & a black cap. It sounded like a finch , but i have never seen a white finch in my life. It was the same size as the many Goldfinches , that come to the garden everyday.

Can anyone help with what it is . Thank you.

Could it have been a pied wagtail?

or even a blackcap?

There is also a pied flycatcher that might fit the description but it is not found in eastern England and is also a summer visitor but sometimes these birds are blown off course.

If it was the size of a finch then I don't think it would have been an albino blackbird.

Maybe an escaped cage bird? I had a canary appear in my plot last year.

  Thank you for your replys.
Thanks Saddad, i think you are probably right.
Pauline no photos remotely like the bird.
Robert definitely not a cage bird.

The bird was so like all the finches & even called like one so i think Saddad, is right, if only i could have got my camera quickly i have it ready to take a piccie if it comes back again.

No it is not any of the tit family, we have all those on a regular basis.
I now believe it is an albino finch, i listened to my birdsong last evening it has definitely the call of a finch.  Desperate to get a picture the camera is ready, i do hope it comes back it is lovely to look at & hear, there are so many goldfinches at the feeding station i am hoping it will show again. ;D

Is it possibly a yellowhammer or siskin?

Got them back now to put some tread on them
