Best potatoes for Christmas Mash?
« on: December 19, 2010, 10:55:53 »
Just shortening my Christmas trousers and, as you do ::), and was wondering which of this year's potatoes would be best for mash potaotoes over the festive season. Thought of A4A and all the great people on there  so here goes. We have stored Sarpo Mira, Rooster, King Edwards and a few Cara who I think could be suitable. Which of these can anyone recommend? I am worried I'll choose the variety that boils away to nothing.  :-[ Any thoughts gratefully received. JB

Rooster make wonderful mash, but I can remember whether they boil away.
I have taken to steaming most potatoes any way except when I am par boiling them for roasties, because I find so many of them now tend to break up and boil away.

Hi Tin shed. Notice we hail from the same area. I think the idea to steam is good and I'll take a trip over the lottie to pick up the rooster spuds. Thanks JB
