What a beauty, I'm sure that someone will be along soon to tell you what it is
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Thanks Bugloss - is it a common beastie? I've never seen anything like it before!

Thanks, Digeroo! It was a real poser - just walked onto my hand and sat there - made it easy for me to get a snap!

Great photo.  He's out and about late, was the photo taken earlier in the summer?

Wow what a beastie! When I first cleared my plot I dug up loads of large bright green pupa that I think were from a Lime Hawk Moth. Re-buried them as carefully as possible, but never saw any moths.

I was in Egypt in September this year and saw a moth just like the one above.

I remember thinking it looked like a minature vulcan bomber, wish I'd taken a photo now.
