I'm off at the weekend to pick up a second hand 20x10 Robinsons. Cost is 300 quid plus fuel from Swindon to Essex plus I'll have to camp there a couple of days I expect..... but well worth it when you think what those things cost. It'll be replacing the 14x6 poytunnel I had this year which will be moving to my allotment.... hopefully I'll have enough space but muyst put some thought into an autowatering rig for the polytunnel, Glastonbury generally eats a week of my life in June....

i have been given 2 greenhouses, so any tips on dismantling and putting back together would be appreciated. i don't know the size of these greenhouses but i intent to put them up side by side and leave the glass out of the 2 sides to create a big greenhouse.

Take notes and pictures before you dismantle-they look simple but when it comes to putting them back up you will be glad you did.

I`m not quite sure how you intend to put them side by side-will there not be two apexes? and a problem with guttering the middle?. End to end if you can fix them together* I just about envisage. (I have been sat here doodling to see  :) )

*Assuming they are the same size and the whole area is completely level

I have an 8' x 6' at home which I use for seedlings and the like and then eventually the overspill of tomatoes, then I  have the 25 x 12 polytunnel which is my main (provider) and is brill!

My friend bought a secondhand wooden greenhouse which must be about 15 x 12 and it is fantastic - the glass is all toughened glass and I am soooooooo jealous of it.  But that would cost in the region of £5,000 and would not be anywhere near any budget of mine!!

I have a 6 by 8 for seedlings and propagation, also a 50foot by 16 foot polytunnel for growing and growing on plants, flowers as well as a outdoor plot.
Greenhouse big enough for job I want but small for anything other than propagation

Two greenhouse person here, 8 x 6 & 8 x 10.  :)

The smaller one was already in the garden but the larger one we dismantled at a friend's garden.

Just a couple of tips echoing Cleo's advice

1) Thick black felt pen, number the uprights, door and roof beams (I even did the glass too!)

2) Take pictures from all angles showing the numbers in situ

3) New glass clips are an essential

If you can erect them as separate greenhouses it will be much better in the long run,  maybe have the doors facing each other. A nasty outbreak in the entry greenhouse will transfer to the back one very easily.

I have room for a 10x8 greenhouse in the garden we have even ran ducting under the path to bring power to the greenhouse however i have had to shelve the plans as i cant get planning permission. Last application was rejected saying i had the plans in the wrong colours and a suggestion i get an architect !!

Unlikely i will get it now till after christmas - when do the sales start for greenhouses' ?

I have an antisocial (only room for me ;D)8'x4' greenhouse with no heat. I start seeds off in my house and move them out to the greenhouseafter germination. I would dearly love a bigger one with light and heat, but that's never likely to happen now.
Smile, it confuses people.

Why do you need planning permission?.... It's a horticultural building, until it hits 30 square metres or occupies more than half the plot or is closer than 5m to the main house then it doesn't need anything (the power will need building regs though)

Like emaggie I have an antisocial - in fact, barely room for me at the height of the season- 4' wide greenhouse.  It's 12' long; which fits the space at the end of the drive.  It's quite efficient with pots/growbags down each side and just room for a 5'2" little'un to squeeze down the path in the middle.

I'm lucky too because it has electricity.   ;D

But I still have polytunnel or huge greenhouse envy  ;)
