Runner beans - took a battering in strong winds
« on: July 13, 2010, 12:12:21 »
Hi, there everyone

My runner beans were flowering and climbing nicely until we had sudden, very strong winds - resulting in one side of the plant losing almost all of its foliage.  I have kept on watering and feeding but am I looking at a bean-less result?  Any and all advice is welcome.  I am a newbie to grow-your-own.  Thanks a lot.

You should be OK they should recover but you will get a late crop, last year my plot next door neighbour chopped off most of the foliage after the first crop and they produced a second crop, until the frosts got to them.

Thanks for the info, Stevens706.
