Is it too late to sow French beans in Scotland?

I don't live there, but I have a friend novice gardener who I'm sending some vegetable seeds to, mainly they're for easy autumn crops, but I was wondering whether they could still sow French beans; dwarf or tall and get a crop. They're in Perth.

with the way the weather is going we are all six weeks behind they have nothing to lose go for it
