It took my daughter 4 hours to travel from March to Erith when she came to pick me up from my sisters on Saturday. Apparently the Blackwall Tunnel was closed for repairs so all traffic headed for Dartford Crossing. It usually takes 2 hours. Thank goodness Grandsons Dad has AC in his car. We have to do the same journey on Friday to attend my brothers funeral so we are going to start our very early. Apparently the tunnel repairs are only carried out at weekends so hopefully we will have a better journey.

I too have experienced the dreaded southbound tunnel closures - sometimes going in to London and taking the Rotherhithe can be better but I mostly have done it at night.  Hope your journey is better and more relaxing for the funeral.
