Fleece or net
« on: June 06, 2010, 19:34:11 »
I use more and more fleece each year - i know it doesn't look nice but I have saved carrots, peas, soft fruits and brassicas using fleece as opposed to nets which get tangled up with leaves and unless they are held above the fruit or veg, don't really do the job. Decent fleece can be used from one year to the next - I have even washed mine. So, for me, it's fleece, all the way.

I use more and more Enviromesh..it doesn't tangle, last for years and works on any crops..
Fleece I only use anymore for frost protection.

Going slightly off topic for a moment - do you sew up the holes in the debris netting (the ones there to fasten the netting to scaffolding)? Have ordered 25 m and thats a lot of sewing!!

on topic - I use enviromesh for things like carrots and put netting over sticks with plastic play balls on the tip - looks lovely and colourful on my allotment!

Yes,didn't cost that much either. 20 odd quid for the net and scounged water pipe and a couple of days building.
