Cheap Cloches
« on: November 30, 2004, 12:47:10 »
You will find out very quickly that I'm always looking for money saving ideas and here's my latest. On a trading estate locally is a company who distribute filled water bottles 19Lr. I've managed to scrounge a dozen and after cutting off the bottoms with my jigsaw I'm going to use them as makeshift cloches. They seem too good to be true because they even have a removable top for feeding and ventilation. Has anyone else used these before and are there any problems?  ie I thought maybe the blue tinge in the palstic is a UV blocker. :)

This was mentioned in the Top Tips Section headed “Bell Cloches?” and sounds an ideal and thrifty way to rear those tender seedlings. 8)

These drink dispenser containers were used at my work place but returned as they were charged on the empties. ???

Roy - I wanted to take those home from work, but they get £7 back for every one the water company collects. They aren't cheap!

Hey Folks,
Thanks for the input. Roy, a classic is that my surname is Bell.

I emailed a local company about a week ago trying to get chipped or cracked ones as i`ve been told i can`t have them from work but they haven`t mailed back yet.   :(

yeah the deposit stops them going astray!
Perfect though I would have thought.
Good if you can get the cracked or chipped ones. :)
