Tomato leaf curled
« on: May 24, 2010, 21:45:50 »
Hi Guys sorry if this has been asked before. My tomato plants are growing great but the new top growth all the leaves are curled tight, is this down to the heat? The plants look great but just want to put my mind at rest. This is the first time of growing them in my new tunnel.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to this post

The new leaves are very tender and it's quite normal to get some leaf curl on tomato plants. There shouldn't be any problem there.

This is quite common, some varieties are worse than others. Don't worry they will keep on growing and producing as normal, mine did this last year.

Only one word of caution, only take the side shoots off if there is 2 leaves or a flower stalk above, this is because last year 2 of my plants went blind (just stopped growing, no growing tip) and because I had taken off all the side shoots I couldn’t let one of those take over.

The result was 2 plants 2 foot tall with only 2 trusses on them.
