Topic: Gardening day for charity

On 4th June I am running a gardening day at the Tenovus charity shop at Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire. As well as selling plants, books does anyone have any gardening-related ideas as to how we can raise more money? We are holding a raffle and have already been donated a family ticket to local gardens.

Any more ideas for raffle prizes would be appreciated.

make a scarecrow and have a "guess his name" competition- winner gets to keep him!

Good luck and I hope you raise lots of cash.  How about a seed packet lucky dip (bran tub), guess the weight of a vegetable, guess how many beans are in a jar etc etc?

 It is quite good to spread things a bit further to encourage more peeps to come. Non garderners :o    ;D ;D ;D............Our organisation always asked the local restaurant for a lunch time meal for 2.. Also the hairdressers for a cut or set, the beauty parlour for a manicure, chemist for a gift set.  We always took a letter of authority from the chairman of our committe just in case we were asked any questions. we alternated the shops or restaurants each year.. Opps forgot the local offie for a bottle of wine everyone was always very generousEXCEPT the local newsagents always said no to a box of chocalates.  Hope this helps a little. What about a small nearly new stall we did that as well went down very well.

Some one suggested to me that a good game is having a load of spuds

A few yards away a wellington boot and asking people to throw a spud into the wellie.

I suppose stone will work just as well since potatoes are not as cheap as they once were.

There is a prize for any one who gets a spud (or stone) in the wellington boot.

Tombolas are always popular. Best idea is to have one where every one gets a prize of some sort  Nomite a number code so that Zero or 5 gets a good prize and then put some very cheap things out for other prizes. people paying a £1  a time will play again even if they have only got a cheap prize worth much less than a £1
