white brassica and lettuce leaves
« on: May 19, 2010, 18:18:46 »
I have planted out some lettuce and brassica plants from the greenhouse (not in the same bed) and some of the leaves have gone a very pale, almost white colour.  I've never seen this before  - any ideas?  We have had a few cold nights.

I am sorry the picture isn't very good but this was one of my dwarf french bean plants last year. The leaves were a lovely deep green colour when I planted them then after a day of being in the cold they turned white. The plant did survive and produced many more green leaves later on.

Yes I guess it must be the cold, it only occured to me as I was writing the post.  I expected the cold to do even more damage which was why I wasn't sure - spuds are in a much worse state but seem to be recovering.  Greenhouse full of beans waiting to go out - maybe another week.
