COURGETTES - Too cold to sow?
« on: May 11, 2010, 09:38:04 »
The carrot, onion and leeks that I sowed outside over the last month or so (this is my first year, so I'm going by packet instructions on timings) are all in hiding. I'm down south and there's been very little rain and the temps are cool.  It looks like the rest of the week is going to be the same.  Do you think I should wait till things warm up a bit before sowing courgettes.  I dont have a greenhouse and what window-sills I have are already occupied with tomatoes so I'd much rather sow direct outside.

Thanks for all the comments

If you sow courgettes and sweetcorn now in pots inside it will be a week before they show and maybe you could rig up a cloche or similar to protect them outside?

The forecast is for temperatures to get back to the average at the weekend - hope springs eternal!

I generally sow some direct in the ground at the beginning of June.

hope springs eternal!

Hope might do but spring didn't last very long.
Tony.

Sow it, grow it, eat it.
