Mini/max thermometer.
« on: April 28, 2010, 19:52:23 »
I have a basic mini/max & the mercury in it is not joined together (if you know what I mean). Is this how it should be & if not is there anything I can do with it?

No - swing it hard to attempt a re-join. If no joy, bin it!

You beat me to it Tim

I was going to say swing it as if cracking a whip.

Do it a few times and eventually it should all join up.

Word of warning!!

Hold on to it tight if it slips out of your hand then it will really come apart!!

then it will be as Tim says; 'bin it'

Thanks for the whip thing, Tee Gee - couldn't think how to describe it!

Pessimists only have Min/Min thermometers.............
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

I agree lincs!

Yes I have one (xmas present) but I see them as a 'shut the door after the bull has bolted' type of equipment.

What good is it to know that it went down to -5° or some such figure?

Its too late then! :-[

I have invested in a thermostat for my heater meaning that when it gets to a pre-determined figure the heat comes on so it is never too late......and it makes my max/min superfluous! ;D 8)
