Raspberry canes question
« on: April 24, 2010, 22:47:05 »
Greetings

I want to plant raspberry canes in my border (approx 4' wide).   All raspberry canes I've ever seen have been planted in straight rows.

Does anybody know if they will still fruit if I plant them in either a square or circle, due to my lack of space.

Autumn fruiting raspberries need less support so I would imagine would lend themselves to being planted in a circle, leave a gap to get in though as you will want to be able to pick from both sides which I think is why they are most often in a line.  Joan J are wonderful autumn fruiting raspberries, very prolific and lovely flavour, mine fruited from July to October last year.
