i am having great difficulty getting hold of any of the above.seeds dont seem to be avaailable and neither do cuttings

Sorry, gave you that link because I visited when they were near Selby,but looking at the site just now,I see they have moved to Suffolk! Bit far for a day out, but they do mail order!

Are you getting confused with Lemon Balm Ted? Verbena isn't frost hardy and doesn't set viable seed here...
That's where I get mine GoodLife... I thought I'd lost it again but it has sprung into life again this week, in a cold greenhouse...

I lost mine in unheated greenhouse..but not the orchids! ...and I left them in there to die as I decided that I do not want them anymore... ::)
It was the lemon verbena that I was trying to keep going..oh well..that means I HAVE TO go and buy a new one....and while I'm there.. ;D
It was a good thing that I made a efford to dry some leaves for winter use...they will keep me going another month or so and then I should be picking fresh ones..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i didn't realise it wasn't frost hard :'( Had wondered when it was going to start growing again :'( :'( :'(

Oh dear...maybe the top is only died...? Is it potted or in ground...if in pot have a look if the roots look ok...then there is still chance it growing from below soil level...it's been cold spring too..even if it is ok, I don't think it would have started to grow yet..
Mind though...it has been much colder winter this time...
Normally mine goes ok in unheated greenhouse, providing compost is kept dry..
I think it just got that little bit too cold.

Yes quite right, Lemon Balm it was, which funnily enough is supposed to boost memory as a herb  ;D

I grow both lemon balm and lemon verbena :-) Not quite the same tea flavour though.
The lemon verbena often comes up late, so I don't know for now whether our harsh winter has killed it off or not. It is usually quite hardy if it's out in the ground. It is a small shrub, I bought mine in a pot...

Just came back from Herb Garden..no lemon verbena..yet...they are late with too and supply is not ready for another 4 weeks....so it is not just us.. ::)
..found some other nice things though...oh well another trip back ...have to save me pennies first...

i planted a lemon verbena approx 5 years ago, didn't know at the time it was tender. it always starts growing bit later in the year, at first glance looks dead but looking close there are small buds on the stems. it is planted near the kitchen wall(south facing) and surrounded by mint and Chinese lanterns, i wonder if the roots of these plants add some sort of protection. the leaves make great tea and the leaves scent is divine. lemon balm seed everywhere and I'm sick of pulling it up. wonder if lemon balm has any uses like nettles and comfrey for making plant food.  last year took cuttings from the lemon verbena but they didn't take shall try again this year but use a heated propagator.

Ok it's been in a pot by the back door all winter, So i'll take your advice and look at the roots when it stops raining. Thanks :)

Fi...when you take your cuttings...reduce the size of the green leaves are verbena cutting tends to collapse before rooting...I normally shorten the cutting leaves for half dib in water for 10 mins. and then insert into compost..and in propagator... ;)
