Oh interesting...grafted??
Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.

Wow, I just love the chair and table, I'd love to have a go. The tree people are way too scary for me though!

It looks a bit like cherry, he does not mention the species anywhere - or does he?

"The drought had made the plum trees sucker all over the place he had been cutting them out when he realized they were perfect for his new found knowledge. With the three remaining shoots he decided to grow a coffee table, first mirror and garden gate..." Quote from http://www.pooktre.com/about_the_artists.htm

It's fascinating.

I do remember that it used to be normal for Spanish and French farmers to grow their own hayforks and suchlike - I remember seeing them as a child.
