Access issues
« on: April 05, 2010, 18:17:45 »
Hi

I have issues on our site about access, the tracks are so narrow and soft/muddy driving a car down them makes a mess of them.  I took an agricultural vehicle down it recently to deliver some muck and got into trouble for making a mess of the track.

The issue is only going to get worse, and people often ask me to deliver muck to their plots in bulk.  With machinery getting bigger each year and the tracks getting narrower, due to hedges growing and fences popping up etc.

Whats the best course of action?

I have raised the question, and had no reply.  The tracks need to be widened, and then firmed up with hardcore etc.

Regards, and look forward to your ideas!

We decided to develop a community plot and put it towards the end of a messy track.
We then applied for a grant to improve access for the disabled to that plot and hey presto! - the money came and we have a newly laid track.

If you cant get hardcore free, the cheapest stuff  is the big piles of ground up concrete they have when they knock down a large mpdern building, and they have that amazing machine that crunches it all up into concrete mulch and into a huge mountain sized pile. You can buy that for about £12 a lorry load delivered, there so desperate to get rid of it.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.
