Typing courses
« on: March 30, 2010, 19:54:09 »
One of my volunteer trainees at work wants to speed up her typing butcan't find any purely typing courses- they are all I.T.

I know there are lots of free online courses but has anyone used one successfully so I could recommend it to her?

Have you thought about typing software?
I used to sell Mavis Beacon years ago and that was an excellent tuturial. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mavis-Beacon-Teaches-Typing-Platinum/dp/B001AZ7Q10

Here is a link to download a v17 trial http://download.cnet.com/Mavis-Beacon-Teaches-Typing-17-Deluxe/3000-2051_4-10441764.html

It's worth getting the most upto date version.

I got my children to learn typing with Mavis Beacon.  My sons writing was appalling and so I insisted he learned to type.  He swore at me at the time.  But later it came in very handy.  My daughter never was short of a job as a student.

I loved the story about the mother and the camel.

Many moons ago I did RSA stage one in a term at evening classes at school... got a distinction. Lost it all since... Still had carriage returns and all that...  :-X
