What is lodging in Brussel Sprouts
« on: October 05, 2011, 09:33:36 »
Some varieties of sprouts are described as resistant to lodging.  Can anyone tell me if this is when the sprout blows open?   It is a real problem on our dry gavelly soil.

I've always thought of lodging as a plant being blown over in the wind, often needing help to right themselves.

Oh right.  They do fall over here in the wind but I do not mind as long as the sprouts stay nice and solid.

Do they still stay nice and solid after falling over, I always understood "wind rock" or lodging as we now know it's called caused them to blow :-\
