Help me identify my mystery tomato seedlings, please?
« on: March 17, 2010, 19:08:35 »
Found these left over from last year in their seed packets but without the envelope that tells you what they are.

they're growing beautifully but I would dearly love to know more so I can plant them in the best place.

the codes on the packets are:

TOMGARPEA
TOMCOSFIOR
TORECHR

so any guesses?

Oh wow! Thanks you so much. My Mum used to say think of the problem just before you go to sleep and the answer will be there in the morning!
hah! I just post on A4A at night and the answers are there in the morning!

I'll get reading up on those varieties now so I don't mess up.

First one could also be garden peach though...... ??? ::)
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

It could be - I have never heard of that one.  But, the other two are quite common and well known as is Garden Pearl.  Garden Peach appears to be heirloom, specialist and not well known so is less likely.  Having googled it, I quite like the look of it and may give it a go.

Garden Peach is lovely, it tastes very sweet, almost too sweet for me, it is almost like eating a fruit (yes I know all tomatoes are fruits strictly speaking but you know what I mean!). I like the soft fuzzy skin, some folk are not keen on it for that reason. I also grow 'Fuzzy' which is a red version, I really like that too.

that's fascinating Deb, love the sound of that.

Since these were bundled together originally (even though I've lost the envelope) they're more likely the standard ones but I'm fascinated now at the descriptions of Garden peach! Thanks :)
