That's precisely why I am Palefire here - I didn't want all my Beeb baggage to come with me. That way, noone will have any preconceptions about me from there, because I have changed since I posted there. I saw it as a new start!

Love it here, anyway,

Love, Palefire

I don't know whether to wait for the flak to cease, or to put a word in now. It won't get any better, so why not now?

I was disposing of a load of acid-free blotting paper this am - clearing out framing materials on my attempted second retirement. On second thoughts though, better keep it for my copy-book?

Of course, apologies for any slight that may have been felt ; and much shame in appearing to be one of the insensitive, arrogant 'hoy poloy' (accept your spelling!) from 'over there'.  And thank you Teresa and Lishka for your belief in my essential being. Hugh? - almost.  But 'grumpy' - please no! Critical, yes. And 'set in my ways'? - if I have learned to write my own computer programme at my great age - that's 'set'?

But despite that, my comment - at 7.12pm, after 2 Scotches? - was really spurred by fear of the, to me, over-jolly rather than factual face of the board. Nothing personal at all. Same reason why I did not go over to the 2 very good food sites - or even this one, as Ina knows - too frighteningly modern for me. The 'other one', despite all, and when available, has a very easy, gentle layout. And you can answer the person you're replying to without diversions. Small cheese.

OK - bad choice of words - I normally think very hard of the way remarks will be taken. Even spelling?

Sorry - and it's taken 2 glasses of wine to write that!! - Tim

Oh Tim that took real courage, a second retirement cannot be easy but try to look at it as a new start not the end.
Life is for living and I just know there is a peter pan inside you waiting to get out. Crazy yes but turn negitive into positive.
Have a weekend away somewhere you have never been.
Buy yourself a multicoloured gardening jumper.
Have a party the family bring the drink and the food.
Then take on this board coloured writing smileys the lot and join in Ina's party.
Live life to the full and dont be frightened of anything face it full on. This board is more personal than the other and if your down were here to rally round and cheer you up.
There are a lot of very keen gardeners here with a lot of questions.
The advice from yourself, Hugh and John will make a great difference to their gardening.
Teresa

Tim, you are only allowed a multicoloured jumper if you promise faithfully only to wear it with dark green jumbo-cord trousers to get the full effect.

will there be suede patches on the elbows?

a man after my own heart - 2 glasses of wine by lunch. can't wait to retire!!

i see your point about the layout and style (thank goodness you didn't mean us!) i suppose i come from other boards with layouts similar to this so i'm quite used to it.
