They have 'baby yarn'!!   :o

How cruel is that!?  How many babies does it take to make each ball of that?

I meant to say coldframe, but I had a senior moment at the time of typing and couldn't for the life of me remember it's title. :-[ ::)

Thing is I actually could do with a cold frame but I resent spending my hard earned cash on it when a few pallets and a skip window or two will do the trick. Showing that I'm Scottish now??

you never get to know the rootstock i'm afraid.  Because of that I espaliered mine so they won get too big and take over.  You could also keep them small in bush form if you are prepared to spend half an hour each winter getting the pruning done.

I bought 1 cox's pipin, 1 bramley and a conference pear and thought I'd take Psi's advice and espalier them too.

Also got some Asparagus crowns to fill up the half bed I've already got.

 ;)

We've only got a half plot so we grew ours as an oblique cordon. They look lovely & we had 2 Jonathon apples last year which was their first year.
