Not a good day
« on: February 12, 2010, 18:28:50 »
I opened the local paper today and had a quick scan through the birth deaths and marriages, like you do. Two names leapt out from the rest, both were old workmates, same age within days of each other. Died in their sleep, I worked with them for 25 years and we got up to a few antics in that time. Don't tell me things come in threes. I am not listening.  Sad ain't it, neither married, both looked after mother instead, after their own fathers went early.

We were going to live forever, back then. How things change.

Really sad news for you ACE. When I left school some years ago there was a spate of deaths amongst my peers, it really freaked me out.

It is so sad that they did not get to live their own lives.

It makes you think about your own mortality when you know people who have passed that you knew well.

I would not worry to much about the three thing, I also have lost lots a people I know to cancer recently, it his two (oops) then now seven.

AS Ollie says Ace raise a glass or two to your ol muckers.
A mate of mines Dad died last week, only 6 weeks before he went to the hospital complaining that he wasn't feeling well, my mate had the last six weeks with his Dad and best mate, the only thing I could say to him was that he went quietly no pain and still remembered him as the Dad he always knew and not a shadow of himself.     :( :( :(
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your friends, Ace.  As I always say, enjoy every day to the full as no-one knows what is round the corner.

So sorry to hear your news, Ace.  Raise your glass to them and drink to happy memories.  They would have done the same for you.

Hi Ace, not a good feeling when you look at that page sometimes kind of reminds us that we are not 16 anymore,no words of wisdom here for you but I do think I know how you feel so  will be thinking of you today. I don't believe in the three thing either.

Take care

Sorry about your news, ACE. You did say their fathers' died early also- sounds like possibly a genetic thing. And statistic say single men don't last as long as married so that might be part of it as well. I feel for their mothers and you.

I think things do seem to come in threes too. But you will be fine. The devil looks after his own.

Meanwhile keep scanning the local paper and look up old friends. Then as soon as you find that third. You can sleep in peace

You have made out a will, haven't you?

The devil looks after his own.

Now why didn't I think of that ;D

Had a few last night, but didn't get  too melancholy. Baldrick and Moony will still be arguing about 'spot the ball' and picking the Derby winner, and wherever they are they will still be a couple of the lads I had some fun with.
